From a Place of Responsibility: Nationwide Eid al-Adha Campaign to Support Vulnerable Families

Ramallah – During Eid al-Adha 2025, the Ministry of Social Development carried out a large-scale national campaign to distribute Qurbani meat to poor and marginalized families across all governorates. This initiative comes as part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the resilience of vulnerable groups, in cooperation with several partner associations and both local and international charitable institutions.

More than 35,000 portions of meat were distributed during the campaign, reaching around 15,000 beneficiary families through the Ministry’s directorates. The process was implemented under the direct supervision of the Ministry’s teams and in full coordination with partner organizations. Distributions were based on the Ministry’s beneficiary database to ensure that aid reached the most deserving households with transparency and fairness.

The campaign was supported by a number of donor organizations, most notably ANERA, Rahma Hearts Association, Karama Tadamun Foundation, Secours Islamique France, Humanity First, and Take and Give Association, as well as a group of zakat committees and local institutions operating in the charitable and social sectors. Their contributions played a key role in enabling the campaign to reach wide areas across various governorates.

In Hebron Governorate, distribution reached 13,300 meat portions for beneficiary families, through joint efforts with 15 donor institutions. In Tulkarm Governorate, the interventions included 5,050 portions, supported by four main institutions.

Bethlehem Governorate saw the distribution of 733 portions during the Eid days. In Salfit Governorate, Qurbani meat was distributed to 520 families, alongside an Eid clothing drive that benefited 170 children and families, supported by three charitable organizations.

In Qalqilya Governorate, the campaign reached nearly 670 families. Meanwhile, in Tubas Governorate, 563 families benefited from assistance distributed with the support of Rahma Hearts Association and Secours Islamique France.

The Ministry and its directorates also carried out a coordinated campaign in Jenin Governorate, which included the distribution of 5,100 meat portions, supported by a number of charitable institutions.

In Jerusalem Governorate, 600 portions were distributed by Karama Tadamun Foundation, along with 460 portions from the Jerusalem Zakat Committee, and 73 portions from Qurrat Al-Oyoun Association allocated to residential care institutions.

In Jericho Governorate, the directorate oversaw the distribution of 4,00 meat portions in cooperation with partner associations, including care institutions, to ensure the aid reached eligible families across various communities.

In Nablus Governorate, 4,310 portions were distributed under the supervision of the Directorate of Social Development, in cooperation with several partner organizations including Tadamun Charitable Society, the Zakat Committee, Karama Tadamun, and Madid Charitable Society. Village councils in Beit Wazan, Qusin, Surra, and Iraq Burin played an active role in delivering the portions to poor families and ensuring smooth organization of distribution.

In Ramallah Governorate, over 120 portions of meat were distributed to needy families in villages and rural areas, with further distributions planned in coordination with partner associations and supporting organizations.

The Ministry of Social Development emphasized that this national campaign was launched in response to worsening economic and humanitarian conditions directly affecting thousands of Palestinian families. It aims to deliver quality relief interventions that ease the burden of living during the Eid period and strengthen social protection within a well-structured and humanitarian national framework. Distribution efforts will continue in the coming days in partnership with additional associations.

The Ministry praised the efforts of its directorates and field teams, as well as the institutional and methodical approach that characterized the distribution process. It also commended the dedication of Ministry staff and partner associations in upholding standards of integrity and precision in reaching eligible families. Furthermore, the Ministry expressed appreciation for the donor institutions that contributed generously to the campaign, affirming that this model of partnership reflects a genuine commitment to sustained social and humanitarian responsibility.

Under the Follow-Up of H.E. Minister of Social Development Dr. Samah Hamad: Humanitarian Intervention for a Family from Gaza, Securing Housing and Financial Assistance The Ministry of Social Development followed up on a humanitarian case involving a family from the Gaza Strip who had been residing in a hospital in the city of Jerusalem for medical treatment. After the completion of the treatment period, the family—consisting of five members—was left without a place to stay. Accordingly, the Ministry took the necessary measures to address the situation. The family was transferred to the city of Ramallah, where suitable housing was secured through the rental of an apartment, ensuring temporary stability for the family. In addition, a monthly financial allowance was provided, covering the apartment rent and basic food needs, as part of the Ministry’s role in responding to urgent humanitarian cases. This intervention comes within the framework of the Ministry of Social Development’s commitment to fulfilling its social and humanitarian responsibilities and supporting affected families, particularly in light of the difficult economic conditions and financial constraints facing the Palestinian Authority.
