Code of Ethics: Social Work
The Code of Ethics for Social Work Practice was developed as part of the Social Protection Enhancement Project, funded by the World Bank, in collaboration with Professor Mohammad Haj-Yahia. This first-of-its-kind code in the region serves as both a professional and administrative document of great significance. With this initiative, the Ministry of Social Development has taken a pioneering and strategic step toward strengthening the ethical and humanitarian dimensions of social work. The code aims to guide and support social workers in fulfilling their roles and responsibilities with the highest level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to human rights. It underscores the dignity and privacy of beneficiaries, the pursuit of social justice, and fairness in service provision. Through this code, we aspire to inform and educate all professionals and stakeholders involved in delivering social services under the Ministry’s umbrella. It provides clear ethical principles, human-centered guidelines, and professional and administrative procedures that must be considered and adhered to when carrying out social interventions.
