Social Development Ministry Condemns Violations by Humanitarian Organizations in Gaza and Refers Their Files to the Ministry of Interior

Ramallah – The Ministry of Social Development has confirmed that it has forwarded all information regarding the violating organizations to the Ministry of Interior. These practices reflect a clear deviation from humanitarian values and principles. The Ministry also reaffirms its commitment to humanitarian work despite the obstacles created by the occupation, stressing that the Israeli side prevents the direct entry of aid, and that the Ministry has no authority or involvement in the coordination of truck shipments.

In a statement, the Ministry of Social Development expressed its strong condemnation of the unethical violations committed by some organizations operating in the humanitarian field in the Gaza Strip, which exploited the needs of citizens in light of the difficult humanitarian situation.

The Ministry confirmed that it had received documented reports indicating the involvement of one international organization, in cooperation with some traders, in selling a portion of humanitarian aid. This included the entry of trucks carrying frozen chicken, some of which were spoiled, and selling them at exorbitant prices exceeding 100 shekels per kilogram.

The Ministry stated that such practices are incompatible with the scale of the humanitarian disaster and destruction in the Gaza Strip. They represent an unacceptable exploitation of the most vulnerable groups and reflect a clear deviation from humanitarian values and principles.

The Ministry also confirmed that it had referred all relevant information to the Ministry of Interior to take legal action in accordance with the Palestinian Charitable Organizations Law, which governs the operation of institutions in the Palestinian territories. The Ministry emphasized that it will not tolerate any violations and will pursue the organizations and traders involved.

In this context, the Ministry condemned the continued exploitation by some organizations, using their influence to sell aid in collaboration with certain traders. It emphasized that the blood of martyrs and the suffering of families in the Gaza Strip should never be used for profit. The Ministry also clarified that the Israeli side prevents the direct entry of aid through the Ministry, limiting its ability to intervene effectively. It pointed out that the coordination of truck entries is done through specific organizations, which leaves room for exploitation.

The Ministry called on the international community to urgently intervene to end the violations of the occupation, which controls the entry of aid and has led to the deterioration of humanitarian conditions and created a state of famine in the Gaza Strip.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to monitoring and organizing humanitarian work to ensure that aid reaches its rightful recipients with transparency and fairness. It called on supervisory bodies to intensify oversight of the work of humanitarian organizations and hold accountable anyone proven to be involved in these violations. The Ministry also urged all humanitarian organizations to comply with the applicable laws and regulations and refrain from any practices that undermine the noble humanitarian work.

Under the Follow-Up of H.E. Minister of Social Development Dr. Samah Hamad: Humanitarian Intervention for a Family from Gaza, Securing Housing and Financial Assistance The Ministry of Social Development followed up on a humanitarian case involving a family from the Gaza Strip who had been residing in a hospital in the city of Jerusalem for medical treatment. After the completion of the treatment period, the family—consisting of five members—was left without a place to stay. Accordingly, the Ministry took the necessary measures to address the situation. The family was transferred to the city of Ramallah, where suitable housing was secured through the rental of an apartment, ensuring temporary stability for the family. In addition, a monthly financial allowance was provided, covering the apartment rent and basic food needs, as part of the Ministry’s role in responding to urgent humanitarian cases. This intervention comes within the framework of the Ministry of Social Development’s commitment to fulfilling its social and humanitarian responsibilities and supporting affected families, particularly in light of the difficult economic conditions and financial constraints facing the Palestinian Authority.
