MoSD Hands Over Three Homes to Displaced Families in Tulkarm as Part of Ongoing Housing Support Efforts

Tulkarm – In affirmation of its commitment to strengthening citizens’ resilience and ensuring decent housing for the most vulnerable families, and as part of its continued efforts to provide adequate shelter, the Ministry of Social Development handed over three homes to extended displaced families living in difficult humanitarian conditions. The Ministry continues to work closely with its partners to secure urgent interventions that meet the needs of impoverished families, ensuring minimum standards of dignified living and stability, particularly amid the challenging conditions facing many displaced households.

Minister of Social Development and Minister of State for Relief Affairs Dr. Samah Hamad participated in the handover of the three homes in Tulkarm Governorate, in the presence of Governor of Tulkarm Dr. Abdullah Kmeil, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development Mr. Taha Al-Irani, a representative of Al-Quloub Al-Rahima Association, and a delegation from the Ministry and the Social Development Directorate in the governorate.

The intervention followed a field assessment conducted by the Ministry’s Tulkarm Directorate, based on data from the Social Registry and in cooperation with Al-Quloub Al-Rahima Association. The three families, displaced from Tulkarm Camp and residing in the Aktaba/Azbat Yassin area, were found to be living in inadequate housing conditions and severe economic hardship, compounded by the absence of breadwinners, the presence of children and elderly family members, and medical cases requiring follow-up. Based on the Ministry’s recommendation, the association rehabilitated one home and secured three housing units that meet basic safety and stability standards for the beneficiary families.

Undersecretary Mr. Taha Al-Irani emphasized that the Ministry remains committed to coordinating efforts with partner institutions to ensure a rapid response to the most urgent cases, in accordance with clear criteria that ensure fair targeting.

For his part, Governor Dr. Abdullah Kmeil commended the intervention, praising the role of the Ministry and its partners in supporting displaced families and strengthening their resilience amid current challenges.

Minister Dr. Samah Hamad affirmed that the Ministry will continue working diligently with all partners to secure funding to expand this support to additional displaced and affected families, thereby enhancing citizens’ resilience and broadening assistance to the most vulnerable.

This intervention is part of ongoing national efforts to strengthen social solidarity and provide a safer and more stable environment for affected families, underscoring that effective partnership between public institutions and civil society can make a tangible difference in people’s lives.
