MoSD Organizes Free Screening Campaign for Early Detection of Breast Cancer
Ramallah – The Ministry of Social Development, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Augusta Victoria Hospital – Al-Muttala’, organized an awareness and free screening campaign for the early detection of breast cancer, targeting female staff of the Ministry and the Government Complex, held at the Ministry’s headquarters.
Minister of Social Development and Minister of State for Relief Affairs, Dr. Samah Hamd, affirmed that organizing this campaign comes as part of the Ministry’s efforts to promote health awareness and early prevention. She noted that early detection of breast cancer is a key tool in reducing the spread of the disease and saving women’s lives, emphasizing that regular screening should be a continuous practice throughout the year, not limited to the Pink Month.
Dr. Hamd explained that the Ministry’s internal health campaigns aim to provide safe and easy access to preventive services, especially for female employees who may not have the opportunity to undergo screenings outside working hours. She stressed the importance of integration between the health and social sectors to ensure the provision of high-quality services.
The campaign included on-site mammogram screenings at the Ministry’s headquarters, carried out by specialized medical teams from the Ministry of Health and Augusta Victoria Hospital, who conducted the examinations and provided medical guidance to staff on the importance of follow-up and early detection.
The Ministry indicated that it will continue implementing health and preventive initiatives aimed at promoting the well-being of female employees and women in the community, as part of its role in supporting social protection and raising awareness.
