Joint Efforts Underway to Prepare for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities in December

Ramallah – The Department of Persons with Disabilities held an extensive coordination meeting as part of the preparations for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, scheduled to take place in December. The meeting brought together a wide range of governmental and civil society institutions concerned with social issues and the rights of persons with disabilities.

Participants included Akram Al-Hafi, Assistant Deputy Minister for Social Care and Community Development; Ajaj Ajaj, Director General of the General Administration for Persons with Disabilities; and Abbas Dhiab. From the Community Police, Colonel Sanaa Al-Tirawi, Colonel Amjad Frahteh, and Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Al-Aidi took part. The meeting also included the General Union of Persons with Disabilities, Majdi Mar’i, and several local partners.

The discussions focused on reviewing the plans for activities scheduled throughout December and exploring mechanisms for cooperation among all stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive and effective event that responds to the needs of all beneficiary groups. The meeting also featured an exchange of ideas and proposals aimed at achieving fully integrated organizational arrangements covering all logistical aspects.

Participants emphasized the importance of joint work and continuous coordination among institutions, noting that the success of the International Day’s events requires collective efforts that reflect the significance of disability-related issues within society. They also agreed to follow up on the implementation steps and adhere to the established timeline to ensure full preparedness in line with the planned activities.

This meeting comes as part of a series of preparatory sessions aimed at strengthening partnerships among institutions working in the disability sector and unifying efforts to deliver an inclusive and high-quality experience on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
