Palestine Advances Globally and Responds Locally: MoSD Coordinates Side Event at Doha Summit
As part of its international efforts to elevate Palestine’s presence in global forums, the Ministry of Social Development continues to coordinate with three diplomatic missions in preparation for a side event planned on the sidelines of the Second World Summit for Social Development, scheduled to take place in Doha in November. Virtual meetings were held with the Embassy of Belgium, the Ambassador of Brazil, and the Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Ireland—all of whom represent accredited missions to the State of Palestine. Representatives from all three embassies expressed their supportive engagement and confirmed their intention to advocate for the inclusion of the Palestinian-led event within the summit’s official program.
Meanwhile, Palestine took part in the 4th session of the Arab Children’s Parliament, held in the Emirate of Sharjah, with a delegation of four Palestinian children accompanied by the Director of the Child Protection Unit. During the official session, the children delivered powerful interventions on “The Cultural Identity of the Arab Child,” highlighting the reality of Palestinian childhood under siege and aggression, and affirming their rights to education, safety, and belonging.
In parallel, the Ministry signed a cooperation agreement with UNDP under the “TARABOT” initiative to support communities at risk of displacement in the Old City of Hebron and the Masafer Yatta area. The agreement includes humanitarian interventions targeting women and vulnerable families, through rental subsidies, economic, and social support.
On the ground, the Ministry’s regional directorates continued community-based interventions: In Tulkarm, female staff participated in a self-care training workshop for mental health practitioners, in partnership with the Women's Centre for Legal Aid and Counselling (WCLAC).
In Nablus, a community event was held in Bizzariya village to support displaced women and children. In Jerusalem, the Directorate distributed household supplies to vulnerable families in Qalandiya Camp, with support from Qurrat Al-Oyoun Charitable Society.
In Qalqilya, the Directorate welcomed a delegation from the National Security Forces to strengthen coordination in the area of social protection. In Bethlehem, the Directorate honored high-achieving orphaned students in the national high school exams, during a ceremony held in cooperation with Al-Majd Charity at Palestine Ahliya University.
Despite severe field challenges and imposed restrictions, the Ministry of Social Development remains steadfast in ensuring access to essential services for vulnerable groups, while intensifying coordination with international partners to deliver a comprehensive and effective humanitarian response that supports Palestinian families' resilience in these difficult times.
