MoSD Continues Efforts to Support Gaza and Northern West Bank in Local and International Cooperation

Ramallah – January 30, 2025 – Minister of Social Development, Dr. Samah Hamd, continues her intensive efforts to enhance coordination with local and international organizations in providing humanitarian support amidst the ongoing situation in Gaza and the West Bank. This week, she met with a group of businessmen who expressed their readiness to provide urgent aid to the people of Jenin, including distributing mattresses and blankets to meet the needs of families affected by the aggression. They also discussed providing aid that includes food supplies and essential necessities. Additionally, shipments of infant formula will be provided to meet the needs of families in Gaza.

Dr. Hamd also met with representatives from OCHA (Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs) in Palestine, where they discussed ways to strengthen cooperation to support the Ministry's efforts in providing humanitarian assistance. The conversation also focused on activating appropriate mechanisms to ensure aid reaches those in need in Gaza. They also addressed how OCHA can support in providing shelters for those in need and discussed the challenges the Ministry faces in delivering aid to Gaza. Coordination mechanisms between local and international organizations were also explored to ensure the effective delivery of aid.

In a related context, Dr. Hamd met with the French Consul in Palestine, Nicolas Cassianides, and the German Representative to discuss ways to provide humanitarian assistance. They were briefed on the latest developments regarding the current situation in Gaza and the progress of operations in the relief efforts. The importance of coordinating with the Palestinian government to ensure aid reaches families in the Gaza Strip was also emphasized.
