Dr. Hamad Receives Egyptian Ambassador and Discusses Strengthening Cooperation in Relief and Humanitarian Assistance
Ramallah – Minister of Social Development and Acting Minister of State for Relief Affairs, Dr. Samah Hamad, received H.E. Dr. Bassem Abdelhadi, Ambassador and Head of the Representative Office of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the State of Palestine, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, particularly in supporting the efforts of the Palestinian Government, the Ministry of Social Development, and the Ministry of State for Relief Affairs in providing humanitarian and relief assistance to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
Dr. Hamad welcomed the Egyptian Ambassador on the occasion of assuming his new duties in the State of Palestine and wished him success in his mission. She highlighted the longstanding fraternal and historical relations between the Palestinian and Egyptian peoples and expressed her appreciation for the steadfast support of the Arab Republic of Egypt, its leadership, government, and people, for the Palestinian people, as well as its continued efforts to alleviate their suffering.
Dr. Hamad praised Egypt’s pivotal role in supporting humanitarian and relief efforts in the Gaza Strip, particularly in facilitating the delivery of humanitarian assistance entering Gaza through Egypt. In this context, she expressed her appreciation for the efforts of the Egyptian Red Crescent in supporting the humanitarian response for the Palestinian people in Gaza.
She emphasized the importance of strengthening field coordination with the Egyptian Committee, in cooperation with the teams of the Ministry of Social Development and the Ministry of State for Relief Affairs, to coordinate efforts, direct assistance according to the humanitarian needs of families in the Gaza Strip, and enhance the effectiveness of the response on the ground.
Dr. Hamad also expressed the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening cooperation and coordination with the Egyptian Ministry of Social Solidarity and the Egyptian Minister of Social Solidarity, and to expanding areas of cooperation and exchanging expertise in ways that support humanitarian and relief efforts and strengthen joint work between the Palestinian and Egyptian sides.
She stressed the importance of continued support for the Palestinian Government’s efforts to address the humanitarian consequences of the ongoing military offensive, enabling the Government, the Ministry of Social Development, and the Ministry of State for Relief Affairs to continue providing assistance and services to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and responding to growing humanitarian needs.
Dr. Hamad reiterated her appreciation for the role of the Egyptian leadership and the solidarity of the Egyptian people with the Palestinian people, emphasizing the importance of maintaining cooperation and coordination between the two sides to serve the Palestinian people and strengthen joint humanitarian and relief efforts.
