MoSD Highlights Humanitarian and Social Interventions During the First Five Months of 2026
Ramallah – The Ministry of Social Development announced that its humanitarian and social interventions implemented between January and the end of May 2026 reached a wide range of vulnerable families and groups across the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, in partnership with more than 200 supporting entities, including civil society organizations, private sector institutions, local authorities, municipalities, and charitable donors.
The Ministry stated that, in the West Bank, 705 distribution and intervention activities were carried out with a total value of ILS 43,204,743, benefiting 353,151 Palestinian families. In the Gaza Strip, 192 activities and interventions were implemented under relief and social protection programs, resulting in the delivery of 4,935,315 humanitarian services and assistance interventions.
In the West Bank, food assistance constituted the cornerstone of the interventions implemented. A total of 362 food distribution activities benefited 302,276 families, with a value of ILS 32,747,303, representing approximately 75.8% of the total value of in-kind donations and 85.6% of all beneficiary families.
In addition, 109 food parcel distributions benefited 3,962 families at a value of ILS 1,882,317. Six interventions to provide bread reached 17,000 families with a value of ILS 1,600,000, reflecting the continued prioritization of food security within the Ministry’s humanitarian and social response efforts.
To address basic needs, the Ministry and its partners implemented 83 clothing distribution activities benefiting 14,900 families, with a total value of ILS 2,970,780. Furthermore, 49 distributions of medical supplies, hygiene items, and medicines benefited 9,245 families, with a value of ILS 1,826,104.
Interventions also included 22 distributions of mattresses and blankets benefiting 4,286 families at a value of ILS 718,380, as well as 26 distributions of furniture and household items benefiting 443 families with a value of ILS 98,910. In addition, 34 distributions of infant formula and diapers benefited 891 families at a value of ILS 75,935.
As part of efforts to strengthen economic and social resilience, the Ministry implemented 10 economic and social empowerment projects benefiting 110 families, with a total value of ILS 1,283,969. It also distributed 36 school bags through two distribution activities valued at ILS 845 and carried out two electricity-related interventions benefiting two cases at a value of ILS 200.
In the Gaza Strip, the Ministry continued implementing humanitarian and relief interventions amid the catastrophic conditions facing the population. A total of 4,706,929 food-related services and assistance interventions were delivered through 31 activities, accounting for approximately 95.4% of all humanitarian services and support provided in Gaza.
Women’s empowerment programs recorded 131,804 beneficiary cases through 14 activities, while non-food assistance programs reached 72,822 beneficiary cases through 33 activities.
Within social protection programs, 46 activities were implemented under orphan sponsorship programs, benefiting 21,015 cases. In addition, 16 child protection activities reached 1,943 cases, 20 activities supporting persons with disabilities benefited 315 cases, and 11 activities targeting older persons reached 211 cases. A further 21 activities under various social programs benefited 276 cases.
Indicators show that the Ministry and its partners implemented a total of 897 interventions and activities across the West Bank and Gaza during the first five months of the year, reaching 353,151 beneficiary families in the West Bank and providing more than 4.9 million humanitarian services and assistance interventions in Gaza. These figures reflect the scale of the national and community response to growing humanitarian and economic needs.
The Ministry emphasized that these achievements would not have been possible without the active partnership of more than 200 supporting institutions and entities from various sectors. It praised the spirit of solidarity and social responsibility that contributed to strengthening the social protection system and reaching the most vulnerable groups.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to continuing its work with local and international partners to expand humanitarian and development interventions and strengthen protection and empowerment programs, thereby supporting the resilience of Palestinian families and enhancing their ability to cope with growing economic, social, and humanitarian challenges.
