MoSD Condemns Crimes Against Women and Calls for Early Reporting Before Risks Escalate

The Ministry of Social Development expresses its deep condemnation and strong denunciation of incidents of violence and killings targeting women, affirming that such crimes constitute a grave violation of human, legal, and moral values, and a serious assault on the right to life and human dignity as guaranteed by the Palestinian Basic Law and international conventions.

The Ministry reiterates its absolute rejection of all forms of gender-based violence and stresses that protecting women and ensuring their safety and security is a shared national and societal responsibility that requires coordinated efforts among official institutions, civil society organizations, and families.

The Ministry calls for the immediate reporting of any cases of violence, threats, or abuse, and urges individuals not to ignore or remain silent about any indication that may endanger the lives or safety of women, given the critical role of reporting in prevention and protection.

The Ministry emphasizes that early intervention begins with early reporting, noting that many cases of violence can be contained and prevented from escalating if reported as soon as warning signs emerge. Therefore, the Ministry urges citizens, families, and those close to individuals at risk of violence not to hesitate in contacting the relevant authorities to ensure a timely response and the provision of necessary protection before serious harm or direct threats to life occur.

The Ministry further stresses the importance of activating protection mechanisms and rapid response measures, calling on citizens to contact the competent authorities upon identifying any case of violence through the Family and Juvenile Protection Unit hotline (106) or the Ministry of Social Development hotline (189), to ensure prompt intervention and the provision of appropriate support services.

The Ministry continues to implement protection, empowerment, and community awareness programs and to work closely with national and international partners to combat this phenomenon and promote a culture of respect for rights, equality, and human dignity.

In this context, the Ministry renews its call on society to reject violence in all its forms and to contribute to building a safe environment that protects women and safeguards their rights, recognizing this as a collective responsibility that must not be neglected.
