MoSD Visits Nablus Governorate and Discusses the Development of Care Centers and Social Services

Nablus – H.E. Dr. Samah Hamad, Minister of Social Development and Acting Minister of State for Relief Affairs, visited Nablus Governorate on Monday, accompanied by the Ministry’s Undersecretary, Mr. Taha Al-Irani, and a delegation from the Ministry. They were received by Nablus Governor Ghassan Daghlas, the Director of the Directorate of Social Development in Nablus, and several relevant staff members.

Both sides discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation and develop social services in the governorate, particularly in relation to care and rehabilitation centers and improving the quality of services provided to the most vulnerable groups.

Dr. Hamad affirmed that the Ministry is moving forward with the development of Al-Thuraya Center. Staff have been assigned to work at the center, and necessary procedures are being finalized. Field visits will be conducted to monitor progress, in addition to establishing a “Friends of Al-Thuraya Center” committee to strengthen community partnership and support its efforts.

The meeting also addressed the situation of the Girls’ Vocational Rehabilitation Home, where plans are underway to renovate and equip the facilities, as well as assess the needs of juvenile centers in the northern West Bank, including rehabilitation and protection programs and their reintegration into schools to complete their education.

Undersecretary Mr. Taha Al-Irani emphasized that the Ministry is implementing a comprehensive development plan based on field assessments of center needs, highlighting the importance of strengthening specialized staff and enhancing service quality to ensure sustainability and achieve tangible impact for beneficiaries.

Participants stressed the importance of distributing services and centers in an integrated manner across the West Bank, expanding certain facilities and strengthening their specialized teams, and holding coordination meetings with associations and relevant institutions to unify assistance efforts through the unified portal and prevent duplication in service provision, ensuring that services reach those who are eligible.

For his part, Governor Daghlas underscored the importance of integrated efforts between the governorate and the Ministry, commending the Ministry’s work in developing the social services sector and enhancing protection and care for the most vulnerable groups.
