MoSD Emphasizes the Importance of International Partnerships in Supporting Humanitarian Work

Her Excellency Dr. Samah Hamad, Minister of Social Development and Acting Minister of State for Relief Affairs, held a virtual meeting via Zoom with the Australian representative, Bethany Randell. The meeting discussed the current humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territories and ways to strengthen joint cooperation in social and relief sectors.

During the meeting, Dr. Hamad reviewed the difficult humanitarian conditions facing citizens in the Gaza Strip amid the ongoing aggression, which has resulted in widespread displacement, severe shortages of basic needs, and direct repercussions on vulnerable groups, particularly women, children, and the elderly.

The meeting also addressed the situation in the West Bank, including the escalation of forced displacement, as well as the social and economic challenges facing families and their impact on community stability and livelihoods.

In the same context, Dr. Hamad highlighted the governmental reform efforts being undertaken by the Palestinian government, affirming that these efforts are part of a broader vision aimed at enhancing institutional efficiency, developing social services, and improving governance and transparency mechanisms. These reforms are expected to positively impact the quality of services provided to citizens, especially amid ongoing crises.

Both sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation and coordination to support social and relief programs and address urgent needs, contributing to alleviating citizens’ suffering and strengthening their resilience.

Dr. Hamad emphasized the importance of sustaining international partnerships in supporting the Ministry’s efforts, underscoring the role of these partnerships in enabling the Ministry of Social Development to continue fulfilling its responsibilities toward the most vulnerable groups in both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
