MoSD Conducts Comprehensive Field Training on Public Safety and Evacuation Procedures in Sheltering Centers to Ensure the Safety of Beneficiaries

Ramallah – The Ministry of Social Development, through its Ramallah and Al-Bireh Directorate, conducted a comprehensive field training for staff working in several of its sheltering centers, in cooperation with the Palestinian Civil Defense and the Palestine Red Crescent Society, with the aim of enhancing their readiness to respond to emergencies and improving their efficiency in firefighting and evacuation procedures to ensure the safety of beneficiaries and staff within the centers.

The training, held at Dar Al-Amal Center in Ramallah, included both theoretical and practical applications on public safety concepts, types of fire extinguishers and their proper use, as well as inspection of gas and electrical systems and handling small fires. It also involved preparing and implementing evacuation plans specific to each center, with a hands-on evacuation drill that included the participation of children and staff.

The training targeted three main centers: the Child Protection and Development Center, Dar Al-Amal Center for Rehabilitation and Correction, and the Women’s Emergency Center in Beitunia, with the participation of all administrative, technical, and operational teams from these facilities.

The activity was attended by Mr. Mohammad Atta, Director of Dar Al-Aman Center, along with teams from the Civil Defense, the Red Crescent, the Child Protection Center, Al-Irada Center, and several staff members from sheltering centers, totaling 33 participants from various categories.

The Ministry emphasized that this training is part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen public safety and protection standards in sheltering centers and to ensure that staff are well-prepared to respond promptly and safely to any emergency situations, thereby providing a secure and stable environment for beneficiaries.

It further noted that this training marks the beginning of a series of upcoming training sessions that will be conducted across different centers, in accordance with each center’s specific needs and evacuation plans, as part of the Ministry’s commitment to implementing the highest standards of safety and social protection.
