Strengthening Support and Protection for Women and Girls in Gaza: Field Visit to Aisha Center and Call for Unified Efforts
30 July – As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen protection for vulnerable groups in the Gaza Strip, a team from the Ministry of Social Development conducted a field visit to the Aisha Center, to review the programs and services provided in support of women and girls affected by the recent aggression.
The Aisha Center stands at the forefront of social protection and psychosocial support services for women and girls in Gaza, particularly during the current exceptional circumstances. Since the onset of the war, the center has reached over 50,000 beneficiaries—women, children, and men—through the Women and Child Protection Project, which includes psychological first aid, specialized mental health support, as well as individual and group psychiatric therapy sessions.
Relying on trained and specialized teams, in cooperation with national and international institutions, the center has also contributed to building the capacities of numerous professionals in the protection sector, helping improve service quality and case management in line with established protection standards.
As of 1 July 2025, the center had provided 2,500 emergency cash grants to affected families, and continues to offer limited humanitarian aid to critical cases based on needs assessments. The center currently oversees 26 independent shelters across various areas in the Gaza Strip, thereby expanding the reach of its services.
The Ministry of Social Development affirms the vital role of the Aisha Center in bolstering the social protection system and continues to support and coordinate with the center. It is also working with the Ministry of State for Relief Affairs to unify efforts and ensure a more effective response for target groups.
As part of its commitment to transparency and cooperation, the Aisha Center expressed full readiness to share beneficiary lists with the Ministry to improve oversight and ensure assistance reaches those most in need.
This visit falls within the Ministry’s national strategy to protect vulnerable populations, which prioritizes stronger partnerships and coordination with local and international organizations to ensure comprehensive protection and social support services for women and affected families across the Gaza Strip amid ongoing humanitarian challenges.
