Palestine and Morocco Discuss Strengthening Humanitarian Support for Gaza and West Bank Camps
Ramallah – The Minister of Social Development and Acting Minister of State for Relief Affairs, Dr. Samah Hamad, held a meeting at the Ministry’s headquarters with Dr. Mohamed Al-Sharqawi, Director in Charge of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency, and Mr. Ismail Al-Ramli, Director of the Agency’s Projects in Jerusalem, to discuss ways of enhancing humanitarian support to the Gaza Strip and northern West Bank, amidst the ongoing escalation and worsening living conditions on the ground.
The discussion focused on unifying efforts to ensure the effective and equitable delivery of humanitarian aid to affected populations, through coordination with the Governmental Emergency Operations Room, the Ministry of Social Development, and the Ministry of State for Relief Affairs.
The meeting also addressed the implementation mechanism of a joint project aimed at providing prosthetic limbs, psychosocial support, and specialized rehabilitation services to children and persons with disabilities affected by the aggression on Gaza. The initiative is part of a broader partnership between the Ministry and civil society organizations, supported by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency.
Participants further discussed the deteriorating humanitarian situation in refugee camps in the northern West Bank—especially in Jenin, Tulkarem, and Nur Shams—under continuous military incursions and violations. Both sides emphasized the importance of extending humanitarian assistance to these areas and highlighting their plight in international forums.
Dr. Hamad underscored the pivotal role played by the Kingdom of Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in supporting the Palestinian cause. She praised the strong relationship between the Ministry and the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency, which has resulted in impactful humanitarian and development projects, particularly in Jerusalem. She described this partnership as a model of Arab solidarity and integration in the face of ongoing crises.
