Minister Samah Hamad Visits Salfit to Strengthen Family Resilience and Advance Key Social Projects
Salfit – Acting Minister of Social Development and Minister of State for Relief Affairs, Dr. Samah Hamad, conducted her second visit to Salfit Governorate, accompanied by Deputy Minister Mr. Taha Al-Irani and a delegation from the Ministry, to assess the humanitarian situation and enhance coordination with local authorities amid the ongoing exceptional circumstances.
The minister was received by Governor Maj. Gen. Mustafa Taqatqa, Deputy Governor Mahmoud Saleh, Salfit Mayor Abdelkarim Zubeidi, Fatah Secretary General Abdulsattar Awad, local officials, and Salfit Social Development Director Ms. Amani Shaheen and her team.
In his opening remarks, the Governor welcomed the delegation, emphasizing the importance of the visit in reinforcing governmental presence and improving public services. He praised the steadfastness of Salfit’s residents in the face of daily challenges.
Dr. Hamad outlined the Ministry’s recent efforts in delivering relief and social assistance to vulnerable families, noting that unprecedented inflation has strained all sectors. Nonetheless, the government successfully disbursed over 270 million shekels to support the most affected households under a national plan aimed at sustaining care and protection services.
She also announced a new national initiative to strengthen social protection programs, presented to international donors, reaffirming that safeguarding the Palestinian family is a national priority essential for social cohesion and resilience.
Dr. Hamad addressed key infrastructure concerns, including follow-up on the “Dar Al-Bayda” project land as part of the planned government complex. A formal request has been made to revise the design to include a dedicated disability center aligned with inclusion and accessibility standards.
The meeting also reviewed humanitarian and development projects, notably the stalled Autism Center. Representatives from the municipality and Fatah expressed commitment to finding consensus-driven solutions to reactivate vital facilities.
Deputy Minister Al-Irani reaffirmed the Ministry’s dedication to advancing relief and protection programs in coordination with governorates, municipalities, and partner institutions. He stressed the critical role of continued fieldwork in addressing emerging challenges.
At the conclusion of the visit, Minister Hamad commended the resilience of Salfit’s community and the cooperation of local institutions, affirming the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to support the most vulnerable, improve services, and uphold the dignity of Palestinian citizens.
