MoSD and AIDA Executive Committee Discuss Humanitarian Coordination in Gaza

Ramallah – In line with the Palestinian government’s efforts to organize and unify humanitarian interventions in the Gaza Strip, Acting Minister of State for Relief Affairs and Minister of Social Development, Dr. Samah Hamad, held a meeting with a delegation from the Association of International Development Agencies (AIDA) to discuss ways to enhance coordination and ensure alignment of aid with national priorities.

The visiting delegation included AIDA Chairperson Athena Rayburn and members of the Executive Committee from CRS, IOCC, and Oxfam. Discussions focused on the government’s humanitarian response plan launched in the aftermath of the aggression, and the central role of the Government Operations Room in managing humanitarian interventions.

Dr. Hamad presented the mechanisms adopted by the government since the onset of the war, underscoring the importance of international organizations coordinating with relevant ministries to ensure fair distribution and needs-based resource allocation on the ground.

For their part, AIDA representatives expressed their interest in strengthening communication with the Operations Room and gradually shifting toward long-term development programming, reaffirming their commitment to partnership with the Palestinian government to enhance the impact of the response.

The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement to maintain ongoing coordination and expand areas of cooperation in the upcoming phase to improve the effectiveness of humanitarian interventions in Gaza.
