The Ministry of Social Development Signs a Cooperation Agreement with China to Support the Gaza Strip

Ramallah – February 17, 2025 – The Ministry of Social Development announced an agreement with the People’s Republic of China to provide a new batch of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip as part of the ongoing humanitarian partnership between the two sides. This aid comes in response to the urgent needs resulting from the difficult humanitarian conditions in the region.

Minister of Social Development, Dr. Samah Hamad, stated that the Chinese government has approved support worth 20 million Chinese yuan, which includes a shipment of essential food supplies such as rice, sugar, flour, milk, and oils. These supplies will be secured through the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) to ensure their delivery to those in need in Gaza.

According to the agreement, the Chinese government will procure the food supplies from Jordanian markets, while the JHCO will oversee their transportation and distribution within Gaza. The aid packages will bear the “China Aid” logo as a testament to the joint cooperation between the two sides.

The minister emphasized that this assistance is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation with international partners, highlighting the importance of Chinese support in alleviating the hardships faced by vulnerable families in Gaza, especially in light of the escalating humanitarian challenges.

The Ministry also expressed its appreciation to the Chinese government for its continuous support of the Palestinian people, affirming that this cooperation reflects the strong ties between the two countries and reinforces efforts to provide urgent relief and enhance food security in Gaza.

The Ministry of Social Development called on all local and international entities to continue their support and assistance to the Palestinian people and to work collectively to ensure the sustained provision of humanitarian aid to the most vulnerable groups.
