Launch of the National Campaign "Cash We Don’t Need It" to Support Electronic Payments in Gaza

Ramallah – January 15, 2025, Dr. Samah Hamad, Minister of Social Development and Relief, reaffirmed her full support for the national campaign "Cash? We Don’t Need It," launched in collaboration with the Palestinian Chambers of Commerce, the Palestinian Monetary Authority, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). This campaign marks an important step in promoting a culture of electronic payments as a safe and efficient alternative to traditional financial transactions, particularly in light of the dire economic conditions faced by the Gaza Strip.

Dr. Hamad emphasized that adopting electronic payment methods contributes to delivering more efficient and transparent services to targeted groups, particularly poor and vulnerable families. She underscored the importance of collective efforts among all institutions to ensure the success of this campaign and the achievement of its objectives.

She also praised the partnership with international and local institutions, which serves as a model for constructive cooperation to support and develop the Palestinian economy in line with global technological advancements. Dr. Hamad stated that the Ministry would continue working with partners to encourage the use of electronic payment methods to better serve the most vulnerable groups and foster the development of a sustainable and inclusive digital economy.

The Minister called on merchants and citizens to engage positively with the campaign and benefit from the electronic payment services provided through platforms such as "Jawwal Pay" and "PalPay," supervised by the Palestinian Monetary Authority. She highlighted the significance of this step in improving service quality and reducing costs associated with cash transactions.
