MOSD, Ministry of Women's Affairs, and Partners Discuss Ways to Support Displaced Gaza Women in the West Bank

Ramallah – Minister of Social Development Dr. Samah Hamad and Minister of Women's Affairs Mona Khalili held a workshop today at the Ministry of Social Development headquarters. The event included representatives from the Anti-Violence Against Women Forum and the Ministry of State for Relief Affairs to discuss ways to support displaced women from Gaza currently in the West Bank.

Dr. Hamad emphasized that since the beginning of the aggression on Gaza on October 7, 2023, the Ministry has mobilized all efforts to reach as many affected individuals as possible, particularly displaced women in the West Bank. The Ministry has provided financial assistance, psychosocial support, health insurance, and hygiene kits. Additionally, 4 million shekels have been disbursed to patients and displaced women from Gaza, along with direct procurement of medicines unavailable in the Ministry of Health.

Minister Mona Khalili highlighted the need for cooperation among civil society organizations, NGOs, and the private sector to address the needs of displaced women and patients. She called for collective efforts to overcome the challenges faced by affected families and proposed forming joint task forces to support Ministry programs.

Assistant Undersecretary for Southern Governorates Akram Al-Hafi underscored the Ministry’s coordination with international and local partners, civil society, and the private sector to ensure the continuation and expansion of aid efforts to support citizens in Gaza and the West Bank.

Heba Jebayat, Head of the Women and Gender Unit, presented an overview of the Ministry’s initiatives aimed at improving the economic, social, and psychological conditions of displaced women from Gaza in the West Bank.

The Ministry will continue providing financial support through donors, collaborating with partners to address housing challenges, and working with relief agencies to launch economic empowerment projects for women capable of working.
